In continuation of drafting the Personal Status Law for Christians in Iraq, the Legal Clinic team of the Humanitarian Nineveh Relief Organization continues to hold special sessions to discuss the draft law. A session was held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, with a number of legal and religious figures in Bartella. Additionally, a meeting was held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Ankawa, followed by another meeting on July 22, 2026,
During these meetings, discussions and deliberations among the attendees continued regarding a number of issues related to personal status, including the annulment of marriage, dissolution of the marriage contract, divorce, and the resulting legal consequences.
It is worth noting that the Humanitarian Nineveh Relief Organization, through its Legal Clinic team and in cooperation with several legal and ecclesiastical figures, has been working for over two years on the draft Personal Status Law for Christians in Iraq, hoping that it will soon see the light in Iraqi legislation.
